Troop 10 is located in Westerly, Rhode Island. The Troop is in the Quequatuck district of Narragansett Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The Troop meets every Thursday night in the Immaculate Conception Church hall.

Sponsored by the Immaculate Conception Church since it was chartered, Troop 10 has been grooming boys into young men. Most, if not all, of the young men put the skills taught to them in this scouting program to use at some point in their lives.

Troop 10 was formed at a meeting in April 1939 in the immaculate conception School Hall with Arthur Leidman (Scout Headquarters Field Executive, John Shibilio (Assistant District Executive), Father Demers, James Jessop Sr., James Jessop Jr., Robert Motes, Bennie Dimario, Richard Butler, William Weimar, Wilfred Mathieu, Paul S. Ferguson, Leo Gaffney, and James Panciera in attendance. At that meeting it was decided that the Immaculate Conception Church could sponsor a troop. James Jessop Jr. was selected as the first Scoutmaster. Robert Motes and Bennie were selected as Assistant Scoutmasters. Troop 10 started with 7 Scouts. As of June 20, 2020 Troop 10 has been in service for 974 continuous months.

A great part of the troop’s success has been solid and consistent leadership.  There have been 7 Scoutmasters in the History of Troop 10.  You can see the names of the past Scoutmasters on the Scoutmaster’s page.

There are currently 12 active Scouts, and 10 active adult leaders. Troop 10 has produced 108 Eagle Scouts in it’s 80 year history, the first being Paul Furguson Jr. in 1941.

Troop 10 is a Scout run troop, and is active all year round with activities such as camping, hiking, and service projects, as well as week long summer camp, and scout camporees.

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
